Beats & Boundaries showing the “Hip Hop- Beyond Beats & Rhymes”

We’re excited to collaborate with the Gay and Lesbian Network in bringing you this excellent documentary film that explores issues of masculinity, violence, homophobia and sexism in Hip Hop music and culture, through interviews with artists, academics, and fans. It has won numerous awards.

After the screening there will be a panel discussion featuring: Xoliswa Sithole, female hip-hop artist; Headship, male hip-hop artist; Anti-dote, male rapper, Tando Fuze, female spoken word artist.

Don’t miss out – get to the Bessie Head Library Auditorium on Friday, 29 May from 2pm till 4.30.

The screening is part of “Beats and Boundaries”, a rolling series of free films about music, society & politics showing in different venues in Maritzburg throughour 2015. This series of min- festivals and once-off screenings is a collaborative project between: Paulo Freire Project; Centre for Adult Education; School of Education (UKZN); & Church Land Programme (CLP).
